Daniel Pontoreau, born in 1947, is a sculptor and ceramicist, working in a variety of formats with malleable materials such as clay, cast iron, steel, and rubber. A ceramicist (earthenware, stoneware, porcelain) with a particular focus on spatial arrangement and scenography, he creates monumental works and develops a unique sculptural universe inspired by Arte Povera, early British sculpture, and numerous historical and contemporary artists. Exhibiting in Europe and Japan, he regularly collaborates with architects and landscape designers. A recipient of the Medal of Arts from the Academy of Architecture in 2018, he also draws inspiration from his travels around the world.
